I recently returned from my visit to the U.K. during which I promoted my book DEAD FUNNY. I'm happy to say that it received quite a lot of positive press and I've attached some samples below!

I have just returned from a publicity tour to New York and L.A. where I promoted my book DEAD FUNNY - HUMOR IN HITLER'S GERMANY. The trip included several public talks, including one with author Ron Rosenbaum at Brookyln's bookcourt, and another with Prof. Mark Crispin Miller at New York University. Meanwhile, the first batch of press & reviews has arrived. I've enclosed a couple of links to several articles, and to two National Public Radio (NPR) shows on which I was invited.

The Sheffield Documentary Festival has asked me to produce and chair a session this year. It will take place during the festival, on June 10th 2011, from 9:45-11:15 a.m. at the Lyceum.
The other speakers will be Ann Julienne, Head if International Development at France Télévisions, David Glover, Head of Science at Channel4, and Bernd Wilting, CEO of Taglicht Media GmbH

As I mentioned in one of my earlier posts, DEAD FUNNY, my book on humor in the "Third Reich", is ready for publication in the U.S. in May, and in the U.K. in June. I will be visiting both countries, starting with the U.S.

Last week I was invited on a panel at the renowned World Congress of Science and Factual Producers. The topic of our discussion was how to crack the international co-production market, an important subject in times as these. I strongly feel that broadcasters need to pool their assets to generate budgets for high-end documentary productions. For the directors and producers involved, this means creating versions which address the frequently contradictory needs of their backers. This may seem daunting at first but there are strategies to facilitate the process.

I just spotted that my film ABORA -LOST ON THE ATLANTIC will be shown on NRK 1 in Norway this evening at 8 p.m. So for those who happen to be up North, please tune in. I know that this could be of particular interest to all those who participated in my AMUNDSEN production last year, since this touches on the life and achievements of another great Norwegian explorer, Thor Heyerdahl.
